About Brian Harrington

My journey in music began in Washington, D.C. where I started to learn the ropes of studio recording during my time at American University, as well as working live sound for shows at Songbyrd and eventually The Fillmore Silver Spring. In 2018 I graduated from American with a Masters degree in Audio Technology, after previously graduating undergrad with BAs in Audio Production and Film & Media Arts the previous year.

While in DC, I also completed an internship with the Brookings Institute in Dupont Circle, one of the most prominent think tanks in the country. Here I worked with their podcast department to see shows through from beginning to end working in pre-production, interview recording, and post-production editing. I began the internship shadowing the lead engineer, and by the end I was successfully recording and editing episodes to completion on my own.

In 2019, I made the move to Los Angeles in pursuit of new career opportunities. Upon arrival I quickly began working in recording studios, first accepting an internship before getting promoted to staffed runner at Conway Recording Studios, one of the most reputable studios in Los Angeles. At the same time, I was picking up assistant engineer gigs at Perfect Sound Studios' Frogtown and Hollywood Hills locations, where I notched an assistant engineer credit on Childish Gambino's 3.15.20 album, later re-released as Atavista. In these rooms I spent long nights working with SSL & Neve consoles as well as extensive analog outboard gear.

The pandemic and quarantine/social distancing requirements made studio work become sparse and inconsistent. When live music returned in 2021, I started receiving my first offers to go on tour, which I took advantage of and haven't looked back. Since then I've consistently spent my time traveling across the country as a tour manager and front of house engineer for various acts. My work has taken me to countless cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. I have experience working in all types of rooms, from sweaty and packed basement gigs to sold out shows at iconic venues like Madison Square Garden in New York and The Forum in Los Angeles. I'm grateful for all the shows, venues, and cities I've gotten to see across my time tour managing over 12 tours and counting, mixing sound for many of them as well. I'm equally excited to see where else this work will take me going forward.

As this has been going on, I've also taken time to explore other ventures like working in a support capacity managing artists with the Los Angeles company Anomaly Artists, as well as creating and writing my own music blog called Death By Algorithm which has lead to bylines in other notable publications. Please refer to the respective tabs on this site for a more comprehensive list of my experience in touring, studio engineering, and artist management.
